The Retreat, Double Bay, 1950s
The Retreat, Double Bay, 1950s
The Retreat in Double Bay was a dead-end lane which ran from Bay Street to Knox Street with a set of steps providing access between The Retreat and Knox Street. In the late 1950s The Retreat was absorbed into Knox Street. Weatherboard houses built soon after the turn of the 19th century lined The Retreat and were demolished when the lane was absorbed.
